Fluke (FLUAC220) SureGrip Alligator Clips - Plunger Style Review

Fluke SureGrip Alligator Clips - Plunger StyleI got into a Fluke 179 this year, after my old Micronta from my school days finally gave up the ghost, at least as far as the ohmmeter goes. The Electronics Combo kit only had the fine-pointed probes like might be good for plugging into a breadboard, and also the clip-leads like you could use on the various leads you'd find in a discrete circuit, but I grew up measuring as well with alligators, so I thought this to be the thing to add to the tote bag.

They integrate very nicely with the basic modular lead arrangement of the 179, and are easy enough to connect, but I was not particularly impressed by the actual alligator jaws. They appear to be metallic teeth embedded in plastic, where the clips I remember were all metal.Of course, if you're in a tight spot and need to alligator, they would be insulated.

I'm not a tradesman, by the way--just a casual experimenter, a hobbyist and a homeowner.Fluke is like nothing I've owned, and I'm grateful to have acquired the set-up.
