Tiger Patch Muffler Repair Review

Absolutely miserable product. The back has no adhesive whatsoever on it. Trying to wrap this around a pipe and getting it to stay in place is impossible. Imagine trying to wrap a strip of paper around an exhaust pipe. Its going to keep unraveling and falling to the ground - that's exactly what this is like. The package suggests tying it with string on each end and in the middle. Is that some sort of a joke? Did the creators of this abomination ever trying laying on their backs and wrapping a pipe with it with skiplates and whatnot in the way and then try to tie string around the ends of the wrap while keeping it in place with NO ADHESIVE? Complete garbage product, don't waste your time, money, or patience.

I bought this kit for my brother as a Christmas present, since I had several similar tools for front end work on my Hondas and F150. My brother was always borrowing these tools, so I knew he could use them and I could get my tools back!
We looked the tools over and they seemed to be of the highest quality and
my brother has verified that they work well too, since he replaced 2 tie rod ends in the week he got the gift.
The kit has 5 tools in it and this is a great bargain because it is cheaper than just 1 of the tools sold separately (if you can find them).
Also, these tools allow you to disassemble tie-rods and ball joints without damaging the rubber boots. So, get rid of that crappy pickle fork!

Dorman OE Solutions 4WD Actuator 600-101 Review

After the thermal type 4WD actuator in my 1994 K3500 GMC pickup failed, I decided to try this motorized type.The only problem is that it doesn't plug directly into the older type wiring harnesses - you also need to buy a separate harness because this actuator requires another 12 volt hot lead.The older thermal actuators had power to them in 4WD mode, then released with power was discontinued.These actuators are a motor which requires power in both directions.

After checking with my local GM dealers, these actuators were about $150 or more, plus the new wiring harness was another $80!This was way too expensive.I found this Dorman actuator was locally about $110, but the amazon price was down near $60 for the same exact part - what a bargain!

Unfortunately amazon didn't have the wiring harness, but I was able to find one on ebay, new for only $35.So now I have a reliable 4WD system and it only cost about a hundred bucks.It was a good investment.

Florida Pneumatic FP-970 Continuous Flow Grease Gun Review

I received this item and hoped it was a bargain.After an afternoon, and, 4 wasted grease cartridges, it was obvious that it is a throwaway.

The air piston and housing are of moderate to good quality.It is of cast aluminum and sufficiently sturdy to accomodate up to 4,000 psi of grease pressure.However, the cartridge tube, and, plunger system, are so poorly designed, and, poorly manufactured, that you would be able to get one of these to work with a cartridge only as a matter of luck.

The plunger gasket is designed to fit tightly into the overtube so that it will cleanly force grease to the air piston through the tube.The problem is that the gasket is so tight, that if you use a cartridge, the very cheap spring mechanism does not have sufficient strength to force the gasket into the cartridge.

It might be possible to bulk fill this from a 55 gal drum, but, I was unable to get it to work with standard cartridges.

In addition, there is no way to lock the plunger rod at the bottom, consequently, there is no way to engage the spring to compress the grease in the cartridge.

Finally, the design is from a hand pumped cartridge grease gun . . . All they did was stick an air piston on top of it instead of using a hand lever.The result is that if you are trying to inject the grease into a stubborn fitting, the immense air pressure (about 4,000 psi) instead of forcing the grease into the fitting, simply builds up behind the air piston and forces a huge bubble of air into the grease tube and cartridge.

The only way to solve this is to keep pulling back the injector lever and releasing the air from the cartridge tube, then, starting all over.In other words, everytime the air piston builds up air in the cartridge tube, you have to release the air, then, release the spring so that the grease is fed forward to the air piston without a high pressure pocket of air between the grease and the piston.

I was able to temporarily fix the rodproblem with some ingenuity, only to discover that the plunger gasket is WAY oversized, and, will hang up on the lip of cartridge.The result is that there is no way to deliver the grease to the air piston from a cartridge without readjusting the ram about every few seconds of greasing.

This is a forty dollar piece of junk that was improperly manufactured, improperly designed, and, then dumped on the U.S. market.

It is made in Taiwan.

Sylvania 9006ST BP TWIN SilverStar High Performance Halogen Headlight - Pack of 2 Review

I fell for the hype and it was a mistake. Other reviewers will no doubt agree that these are short-lived bulbs and there is a reason for this. These bulbs are colored blue to *simulate* the HID look. Any color on the glass actually reduces output, so Sylvania uses an over-rated filament to get brighter light to compensate for the light absorbed by the coloring. Because federal laws are very specific about the output of headlights, Sylvania cannot use a filament that draws more current so the filament is burning overly hot and therefore has a shorter life. They same seems true for their uncolored X-Tra Vision bulbs. (Which may be the Silverstars without the color.) I tried those and they both burned out in less than a year, two weeks apart.

I too have switched to GE bulbs and hope their bulbs are more durable.

Liberty Classics Ford Top Fuel Dragster Engine Replica, 1/6th Scale Die Cast Review

This is an extremely detailed engine model with a number of working pieces. The overall quality, finish and "heft" of the piece definitely puts it in the "collectible" class of engine models -- it's not a toy. This is a sizable, impressive model that looks great on a desk or bookcase, and is definitely large enough to be appreciated from across a room and is detailed enough to bear up under close examination. More detailed models that I've seen cost a lot more.

The only quibble I have is the engine base -- it's a plastic base that isn't up to the high level of quality of the rest of the piece. It's not bad, but a few cents more expense on the manufacturer's side could have resulted in a better overall finish. Still, it doesn't hurt the overall value or appearance.

Desiccant Cartridge DC30 Review

I have a mounting and balancing machine in my shop, and I use this to reduce moisture. This works perfectly and as advertised, but the cost of each cartridge is a bit expensive. If you end up changing this more than once a month, its probably worth it to look for a dryer that costs more to startup but less to maintain. Powerbuilt 648455 Flywheel Turning Tool Review

I purchased this tool for use on marine inboard flywheels. Maybe it's because I am lefthanded, but it took many uses for the tool and me to become "friends."
The main problem in marine engine applications is that these flywheels tend to be shourded, which makes the long handle on the tool a pain. There's just not room for it, so engaging the business end of the tool on the flywheel is nearly impossible in three out of four cases I've tested it on.
However, if/when you have room, and get the tool properly engaged, it performs as promised - the flywheel turns.

Holley 0-80552 Marine 650 CFM 4-Barrel Carburetor Review

This is not a direct replacemnt for a quadrajet/spreadbore on a crusader 454 or 350 engine without modifications. The gas fitting is not the same size and you will need an adapter. The throtle bracket will need to be lenghtend 1"so you need a welder. And last and not least, the right front bolt is impossible to tighten with a wrench. It is under the bowl and even with the linkage removed it sucks.

Alltrade 648619 Kit 8 Pilot Bearing Puller Tool Set Review

We bought this to use as intended per their instructions. The quality of this device is up there with the best. But, due to the fingers not having a sharp ledge to catch on the bearing's race to enable extraction, the fingers had to be filed down to create the shoulder needed. Otherwise, the fingers would just slide through- eventhough there was enough sideways force on the fingers, at one time we thought they were going to snap.

We sent an e-mail to the company to let them know about the problem- but what we paid for the device, it was still a bargain.
