Diamondite Glass Repair System Kit for Machine Application Review

I purchased this product to improve scratches on a glass door caused by my dogs. The scratches ranged from significant (could catch a fingernail) to minor surface imperfections. I followed the directions and in three separate sessions applied the product with a Makita orbital polisher operating at the recommened settings. The end result was there was no noticeable improvement in the window.I would not recommend this product.

Loctite - Windshield Repair One-Component System, .17 fl. oz. syringe (37613) Review

First time I've tried a product of this type and I was impressed. I know the Loctite name and that's why I took a chance with the product. It's easy to use, a little messy when you remove the adhesive disc but not bad. Only recommendation I would make to Loctite is to make the hole in the adhesive disc about 1/16" larger in diameter. The amount of fluid in the syringe is adequate to repair larger bullseyes.
I'm ordering 2 more kits.

Versachem Windshield and Headlight Repair Kit (90110) Review

I was skeptical at first about using this product and thought I would give it a shot instead of paying $110 to have my windshield repaired. I had a dime sized chip that was ugly!!!

The directions are fairly straight forward and the entire process took about 10 minutes.

The results: WOW!!!!!! My ugly dime sized chip turned into a very small nick and is barely noticeable. I would give this product a higher rating if it made the entire problem disappear, but I am quite pleased with the results and it solved the chip about 80 percent, I would say.

If you have a similar chip or nick, give this ten buck problem solver a chance!!!

Permatex 81730 Flowable Silicone Windshield & Glass Sealer Review

This vendor did it good job to cater to my needs. The silicon based glue was good, it did it's job very well. Though, try to use it where there is not a lot of wind. I did mine's on a windy day, and it was pretty messy. Make sure you have cleanwipes or a damp towel around to do immediate cleanup at unwanted areas.

Permatex 09103 Windshield Repair Kit Review

Permatex had, in my opinon, a decent product.They changed it and now it's just terrible.Do yourself a favor and go try out a competing product called Fix-a-Windshield.I reviewed that one, as well.

Here's what Permatex changed for the worse:

1)No more suction cup.Used to have a clear suction cup through which you could watch bubbles coming up as you pumped out the air.No longer.Now it's an opaque pedestal which you have to stick to your windshield with a 2-way adhesive patch.Can't see through it, and can't verify that the crack has been filled before removing the pedestal.

2)Not enough resin.Used to be the syringe was filled with resin.Now a little tiny tube of resin is included, and it is not even enough to fill the bottom of the pedestal.

3) No more pumping with the syringe.This was the only effective way to get the air our of the crack to be able to fill with resin.Now there are pre-set positions for the syringe:1)lower-notch: vacuum out the air.2) upper notch: push in the resin.This could be regarded as an improvement IF you could see through the pedestal to be able to verify that the repair was complete.

4) Adhesive patch!Ugh, HORRIBLE!!!I was very careful to follow the directions. I COULD NOT REMOVE the pedestal and keep the adhesive patch from tearing apart.So, this left a mess on my windshield, as I tried to get the pieces of adhesive off...all now gooey with resin, running down the windshield.

Why did they mess with this product?I've repaired 3 stars on this windshield with their older product.Now they've lost a customer.

Stoner 95141 Invisible Glass Windshield Chip Repair Kit Review

I bought this after getting a stone chip in my wife's Rogue. I was driving so it was my fault (smile). While I have seen windshield repair kits before, I went with this because of the Stoner brand name (I have always had success with their car care products). Even so, I wasn't expecting anything to repair a chip other than replacing the windshield.

I had a small star-type chip about the size of a pencil eraser with a few small spider lines (cracks) coming off it just below the roof line. Because this is always out of stock at Amazon, I waited about 3 weeks before trying it and the crack didn't spread.
I followed the instructions exactly (which was slightly difficult and my only reason for four versus five stars). There was slight confusion when in step 5 you are told to empty the resin and keep the empty container for step 10, and then in step 10 you are told to use a drop of resin (wasn't I told in step 5 to keep the EMPTY container) over the PIT (Stoner's name for the chip). After a total of about an hour (waiting 15 minutes for step 7 & 20 minutes for step 8, and 15 minutes for the UV rays of the sun to cure the resin), I can hardly see the chip, inside or out. The spider lines have disappeared completely and the center is now about the size of a sharp point of the pencil, not its eraser as it was before I began! I am in awe that this worked. My only mistake was not taking a before and after picture, because except for my wife, no one would believe a chip even existed. High praise for this product & highly recommended.

Fix-A-Flat - Fix-A-Windshield, Do-It-Yourself Windshield Repair Kit (161890) Review

I concur with the other reviewers that one should read the instructions well before attempting the repair.

I used the repair kit to repair one 1.5 inch diameter star-burst and two small nick/chips - one of which was in driving view.

I ensured the car was in the shade and cleaned out the crushed glass out of the rock impact area with the included blade. I cleaned the repair area with soap water and a glass cleaner till it was squeaky clean.

I secured the repair assembly, with the 4 (good quality!) suction cups, to the windshield centering the housing over the rock impact area. I screwed in the resin delivery tube into the housing till it's rubber tip was flush with the windshield and centered to the damage area. I then added a few drops of resin (is same consistency as 3-in-1 oil) into the delivery tube and finally inserted the pressure tube which forces the resin into the crack by opening the rubber tip. I let it cure for about 10 minutes after which I placed a drop of resin on the center of the crack and placed the clear plastic sheet on it and put the windshield in direct sunlight - waited another 10 minutes and removed the plastic sheet. I scraped the excess resin with the blade.

I was very happy with the results - the damaged area, filled in with the resin, was see-through, not smoky like I have seen other windshield repairs. The cracks filled to the extent that the crack was accessible. The resin could not repair a "fracture" as there is no way for the resin to reach in between the fracture. The resin did obliterate the crack lines where it did reach.

The end result is that the star-burst is still there but less visible, both the nicks/chips are reduced significantly (90%+) and I can make them out only because I know where they are. The one in my driving view looks like a small pit instead of a chip. The only thing I am waiting for, this winter, is to see if the resin holds up to the heating/cooling.

It took me about 1 hour to repair all three areas.

The product is designed thoughtfully and is effective. The quality of materials is good. The really great thing about this product is the fact that the resin cleaned off with soap/water and did not harden on the skin. I could clean out the delivery and pressure tubes which means that they can be re-used......there is enough resin/plastic sheets left to repair a few more cracks.

DON'T use more that a few drops of resin...a little goes a long way!

I gave one-less star for false advertising. The company surely knows that fractures in glass cannot be repaired and should not advertise an "after" photo which shows a windshield with no hint of having been damaged.

Permatex 16067 Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit Review

This kit does not work. The resin does not penetrate into cracks or nicks. The resin will come out of the sides and get all over the windshield. It seeps under the adhesive but doesn't go into the crack. There is insufficient resin- and it all winds up everywhere but inside of repair. I followed the instructions to the letter- this kit does not work. You can't get a seal over the repair with the tools provided and the resin does not penetrate into the damaged area, it all comes out the sides because there is no seal. In order for this to work, you would need to have a good seal over the ding or crack, and the materials in this kit do not provide that. You'd probably need to be able to open the crack as well- nothing in the kit allows you to do that. Don't buy this kit, I tried it twice, I followed the instructions, and have a pretty good understanding as to exactly why this product does not work.
