Mayhew 66302 Cats Paw Pry Bar Set - 4 Piece Review

I purchased this set thinking it was a straight tip set from the picture. The 66302 is a curved tip set. A bit upset as I wanted straight tips, I decided to use this set anyway. The handles felt good and sturdy, and I liked the thick chromed shafts. My first use of the 24" prybar was on a belt replacement for my PTO driven Palomar debris containment system attached to my Kubota BX2350 diesel lawn tractor.

I had lost my faithful SnapOn 24" screwdriver, and belt relacement was most of where I had always used it - as it was a strong tool that made tensioning and moving stubborn attachments easy. It anything, I quickly learned the curved tip made this even easier while working on the Palomar vacuum unit. I also noticed less flex in the Mayhew shaft as I used he 24" curved "screwdriver tip" prybar. I'll just add a straight tip 24" version to the set later, as I did use the old SnapOn 24" model on large screws as well. The curved tips prevent these being used very well as a screwdriver.

The quality is every bit as good as SnapOn (probably better and harder metal from the feel and look), and the price for this set is a fraction of what SnapOn gets for the one 24" tool - and this kit also supplies smaller sizes that are just as sturdy. That makes it well worth its weight, and striking the handle of my SnapOn screw driver would damage it - it doesn't phase the Mayhew. This prybar set will remain stored proudly in my SnapOn tool cabinets without a doubt.
