OTC 4603 Stinger Freeze Plug Remover/Installer Set Review

OTC 4603 Stinger Freeze Plug Remover/Installer SetThe first time we used it was on a 351W block - we had to grind off the side of the 1.5" die and chamfer the edge all the way around to clear nearby casting bosses on the block. The stop-flange on the die hit the block before the soft-plug was all the way in, so still had to poke an impact socket into the soft-plug to finish the job the old way.Still, the tool made getting the plug positioned and started much easier, and once we grind the dies we use a bit, we'll get lots of usse from the tool. The "puller" part, maybe not so much, since it requires first drilling a hole in the plug to be removed - try getting a drill up in there.however, the installer bar, with the handy bend, worked very nicely to drive the plug in so I could turn it sideways and snag it back out with a pair of channel-locks.It also seems like, since you have to beat on the end of the bar with a hammer, that there would be an anvil to protect the end of the bar - over time, it's going to mushroom out and prevent the ferule (sp?) from being removed. The tool is worth buying if you're going to be installing many soft plugs with the engine in the car, and are willing to modify it to suit your particular application.
