Sylvania 9007SU BP SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight - Pack of 2 Review

I recently purchased a 2007 Nissan Frontier SE pick-up.I noticed it had the reflective headlights when I purchased it, but thought no furthur about it until my first night back roads(dark) drive. We have a lot of deer in the area, and hardly a night goes by that I do not have them cross the road in front of me.I could not see more than 100 feet in front of me on dim and about 125 feet on bright, it seemed, and was hesitant to drive more than 30-35 mph. I found myself ducking down to try to see under the light/dark edge.I was amazed to hear my wife describe the same feeling.I hated to drive at night.I contacted the local Nissan dealer and asked if the lights could be adjusted. The service manager acted like I was crazy and said they had not had this problem before, and was no help at all.I contacted Nissan headquarters who were even less help. They told me to contact the local dealers who were independently owned, and would be glad to furnish me a list of the area dealers. What a joke.I asked for help to solve a serious problem to me and got the brush off from Nissan on what I considered a serious design problem.I have a friend who has a Titan and does not have the reflective type lights and has no problems. So, Internet here I come.I found the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra lights, and started reading the reviews.Almost all were raves about how much it helps night driving. So, I decided to purchase some.BEST PURCHASE I HAVE MADE IN SOME TIME!!!! These lights made night driving so much easier.I can now see down the road.I would recommend these lights, and have, to anyone who feels their night vision is impaired by insufficient lighting by their automobile. Thanks Sylvania for fixing my problem.

Product Description:
Sylvania SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight is fashioned for brighter and whiter light. It has dual filament for both high beam and low beam. This operates with internal gas pressure which significantly reduces the rate of tungsten evaporation. Its analogous non-halogen incandescent lamp operates the same filament temperature with greater luminance and efficiency. This combined effect of higher pressure and the halogen cycle give halogen lamp much longer life.

Short / Open Circuit Finder and Circuit Tracer - Supersedes SHFFF300 Review

The description of the product brochure states that the `short' is much easier to detect with this tool then the `open'. In reality it is almost true. The problem is that in automotive world we usually see bundles of wires, which is the biggest flaw of this detector. The bundle of wires absorbs the signal and makes it weak in `short' cases and practically impossible to trace in `open' circuits. In addition, if you have a light bulb on one end of the circuit and a `short' on the other, you will be chasing a wild goose. The best advice to those who decides to buy this product is practice, more and more because it is the only way to figure out the way this tool works.

Sylvania H7 SU BP TWIN SilverStar Ultra Headlight - Pack of 2 Review

These Sylvania Silver star Ultra bulbs are not what is in the package. The package is correctly labled but the bulbs in the package are the standard bulb, part number 64210 with a output of 3300, not the 4100 power Silver Stars with part number H7ST as advertised. I sent them back with a full explanation but was sent the same "incorrectly packed" item. No one was intersted in looking into the problem. Could it be a deliberate rip off?

Sylvania 9006SU BP SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight - Pack of 2 Review

ALL the DOT-legal high output bulbs achieve higher output by overdriving the filiments, which reduces bulb life. They have to do this because the DOT puts limits on wattage. The only exception are HID and HIR bulbs, which use new technology to get more light out of less watts.

According to Sylvania:
"Since our SilverStar(r) ULTRA
headlights are up to 50% brighter than standard halogen, they will have
a shorter life span when compared to our other products. Part number
9005SU will last for approximately 125 hours of "on time", 200 hours for
part 9006SU."

For comparison, standard Halogens are rated at 1000/350 hours low/high.Use the S

If you want good lights on a 9006/9005 car, get some Toshiba 911 and 912 HIR bulbs. They'll cost you about $15 more than the Silverstars Ultras, put out more light... and last 5 times as long!

Fluke (FLUTLK225) SureGrip Master Accessory Set Review

If someone else will be paying for these, they are great! Grabbers will snag and securely hold just about anything. No insulation displacement options however. I have a set of old Wavetek alligator clips that did it all in one clip. Bulky, but more functional. The fancy bag wasn't really designed for constant use. A nice zipper bag should be included.

Dorman OE Solutions 741-649 Dodge Dakota/Durango Front Driver Side Power Window Regulator with Motor Review

This is my 4th window regulator for the driver's side of my 2004 Dodge Dakota. Those little white plastic pieces keep braking, and it's never the same one.The original motor is so strong it pulls the cable housing right through the plastic stop, or rips the cord right out of the window bracket. This is the first time I've gotten one from Dorman with the modifications.Hopefully they fixed the problem.

Dorman Modifications:
-The troublesome white plastic pieces have been replaced with heavier duty plastic in a better configuration.
-Motor replaced with smaller, slower lifting motor.Smoother operation. It takes about 1 to 2 seconds longer to roll up.

BE SURE YOU GET THE REDESIGNED ONE - or else it will break about once a year.(looks a little different than picture)

Why 3 stars?? (5 stars for dorman, negative 2 stars for dodge designers)
-Dorman made nice modifications
-Fast shipping
-Cheap (compared to the dealership $200+)
-Easy to install (after doing this 4 times i can replace in less than 20 min)

Also, lube your window track with heavy duty silicone spray every now and then.
